Sharing the trail
Meeting a horse on the trail? Here's how.
Hikers
Step calmly to the downhill side of the trail, greet the rider so the horse hears a human voice, and let them pass at a walk.
Cyclists
Slow down, call out early, and stop if asked. Horses can be startled by fast, silent approaches — especially from behind.
Dog walkers
Leash your dog on approach, keep them on the far side of the trail, and never let a dog chase or bark at a horse.
Horses see the world differently than we do — a friendly greeting, a slower pace, and a little patience keep everyone safe. Thank you for sharing Bowen's trails.
